Inisheer – Friday, July 31 to Monday, August 3
We’ll meet on the island of Inisheer and spend a few days exploring its sights—shipwrecks, lighthouses, castles, beaches, and even seals! We’ll enjoy group walks and jaunty carriage rides, and, of course, immerse ourselves in the local music scene at the island’s three pubs.
Una MacDonagh, a native of the island, will give a talk about traditional arts and culture.
We’ll have a dance lesson with local dancers to learn the Inis Oirr Half Set, as part of its revival.
Singing workshop with local traditional singers, giving you a chance to learn songs from the region and experience Irish vocal traditions firsthand.
Westport – Tuesday, August 4 to Thursday, August 7
From Inisheer, we’ll ferry to Westport, which will serve as our home base for exploring:
Day trips to Knocknarea, Clare Island (home of Gráinne Mhaol), and Croagh Patrick.
Evenings enjoying the local music scene, including Matt Molloy’s pub—a hub of traditional music founded by the flutist of The Chieftains. (Schedule for August sessions and concerts is still forthcoming.)
A private sean-nós dance lesson with local dancers from County Mayo. Hup!
Belfast – Friday, August 8 to Sunday, August 9
We’ll head to Belfast to experience the Fleadh Cheoil, Ireland’s premier traditional music festival. There will be competitions, ceilis, talks, tours, and plenty of festival atmosphere to soak in.
Cost: $4,000 maximum per person
(cost may be reduced based on a size of the group or room sharing)
This includes travel and accommodations from July 31–August 9, breakfast for the three days in Westport, and two group dinners.
Deposit & Payment:
A $500 deposit secures your spot on the trip. The remaining balance can be paid monthly between April 1 and July 1, or in full at any time before then.
